DOD moves forward on zero-trust assessment standard for cyber
DOD is finalizing a new zero trust assessment standard for the evaluation and approval of cybersecurity solutions, reports DefenseScoop. Zero trust is a transformational security framework that assumes no user, device, or system, whether inside or outside the network, should be trusted, and therefore requires continuous verification and strict access controls to protect resources.
DOD emphasized the challenges of changing the Pentagon's culture regarding technology acquisition and cybersecurity at scale. The new Fulcrum IT strategy, introduced by acting CIO Leslie Beaver, aligns with zero trust initiatives and focuses on agile processes and user experience. Call stressed the importance of these measures in deterring cyber threats from adversaries like China.
