NSA’s secret $10B WildandStormy Amazon cloud going “very well”
National Security Agency’s (NSA) $10 billion cloud initiative, code-named "WildandStormy," is advancing well, David Appel of Amazon Web Services (AWS) told NextGov’s Frank Konkel and David DiMolfetta. Launched in 2022, the cloud project aims to modernize the NSA’s classified data storage through a hybrid compute system, enhancing scalability and data processing. AWS is leveraging its experience from prior intelligence community cloud contracts, such as a 2013 CIA deal, to expedite development. "WildandStormy" will play a key role in transforming the NSA's data handling practices. The NSA declined to comment further on the project.
