Intel’s response to ARM incursion locked and loaded
Intel has unveiled its new Core Ultra 200V series, formerly known as Lunar Lake, set to launch on 24 September 2024, the Verge reports. These processors are Intel’s response to Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite and AMD's Strix Point, and the incumbent player claims superior performance in CPU, GPU, and AI capabilities, along with improved power efficiency.
Key highlights include:
- Significant battery life improvements, with some models reportedly offering up to 44% longer usage
- Enhanced integrated GPU performance, potentially making some games playable on thin laptops
- Faster AI processing for applications like Adobe Premiere and Lightroom
- Built-in Wi-Fi 7 and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity
However, these chips are limited to 8 cores, 8 threads, and 32GB RAM, targeting thin and light laptops. While promising, professionals should wait for independent reviews to verify Intel's claims before making purchasing decisions.
